HCLTech launches AI-focused “nano” Global Capability Centers on AWS to help firms move beyond pilots
The IT services firm has introduced a compact GCC model built with Amazon Web Services for Asia Pacific, targeting established centres and mid-market companies that want to scale AI without the heavy setup of traditional offshore operations.
HCLTech has launched an AI-powered “nano” Global Capability Center (GCC) offering, built on Amazon Web Services (AWS), to help enterprises move from AI experimentation to tangible business results. The model is part of the company’s GCC 360 solution suite and combines its GCC advisory capabilities with AI platforms such as AI Force.
HCLTech has designed the offering for two types of enterprise. The first is established GCCs already operating in India, largely on conventional work, that need a non-disruptive way to drive AI-led transformation. They would use a hub-and-spoke model anchored from HCLTech’s Lucknow campus. The second is mid-market companies with no presence in the country that are wary of entering a new geography and want a low-risk platform to speed up their AI journey.
In both cases, organisations can begin with a targeted scope, set up AI-native operating models, shorten setup cycles, and scale in stages as value is demonstrated.
How it differs from traditional GCCs
Traditional GCCs are built around broad scope and scale. The nano model instead relies on compact, product-centric squads, AI-enabled workflows and a land-and-expand approach. It covers AI-native engineering, autonomous IT operations, advanced data and analytics, and intelligent business operations, with responsible AI governance built in.
HCLTech leads the design and implementation of the operating model. AWS provides joint go-to-market support and access to agentic AI services, including Amazon Bedrock, Kiro and AWS Transform, to speed up delivery.
The offering is part of HCLTech’s wider global strategy, with Asia Pacific as the first phase of rollout. It will be delivered through the company’s India-based delivery organisation and supported by its Center of Excellence in Lucknow, giving clients access to India’s pool of technology and engineering talent.
“The nano GCC model is at an inflection point. What began as a cost and talent strategy is becoming the primary engine for enterprise AI capability building. The question for most organizations is no longer whether to build AI-native operations, but how to do it without the drag of legacy setup models. The nano GCC is our answer to that urgency,” said Kiran Cherukuri, Executive Vice President & Global GCC Practice Leader, HCLTech.
“By combining HCLTech’s GCC expertise and AI capabilities with the scalability, security and agentic AI services of AWS, the nano GCC offering gives enterprises a faster, lower-risk path to building AI-native operations. It enables organizations to start with focused use cases, demonstrate measurable value and scale confidently as their business needs evolve,” said Prabhakar Appana, Senior Vice President and Global Head of the AWS Ecosystem Business Unit, HCLTech.
“Enterprises across Asia Pacific want to build AI-native operations with speed and confidence. AWS provides cloud infrastructure, agentic AI services and DevOps capabilities that power HCLTech’s nano GCC offering. This helps organizations move from pilot to production and scale as their business demands evolve,” said Amit Anshu, Head of GSI and IT Business, AWS India and South Asia.
