Global cybersecurity spending is projected to reach $361.9 billion by 2027, reflecting a fundamental shift from protecting IT infrastructure to establishing digital trust across AI-driven enterprises.
With annual growth of 12.4%, security investments could reach $512.9 billion by 2030, making cybersecurity one of the most resilient enterprise spending priorities.
AI security alone is projected to attract $58.3 billion in 2027, growing 37.8% annually as autonomous agents increasingly enter mission-critical business operations.
By 2028, AI agents could triage 80% of Security Operations Centre alerts, fundamentally transforming threat detection, incident response and security workforce requirements.
Meanwhile, sovereign AI requirements are becoming procurement priorities, with one-third of governments potentially mandating sovereign AI capabilities for sensitive sectors by 2027.
However, 37% of organisations acknowledge that existing cyber-resilience investments remain insufficient to prevent or mitigate financial losses, exposing a widening gap between spending and effectiveness.
The ultimate question confronting CXOs is whether AI investments are delivering measurable returns. Security budgets may remain protected, but enterprise trust will increasingly depend on demonstrable outcomes, accountability and measurable business value.
