TCS marked globally
Tata Consultancy Services has announced that it has been ranked as the world's 7th greenest company in Newsweek's Green Rankings 2011. In addition, TCS is the highest ranked Asia-based company and second highest ranked globally in the Information Technology & Services company category.
Newsweek's Green Rankings assess each company's environmental footprint, management of that footprint, and transparency. The Green Rankings focus on the largest publicly traded companies in America and worldwide. Each list consists of the largest 500 companies by revenue (most recent fiscal year), market capitalization, and number of employees as of June 30, 2011.
N. Chandrasekaran, CEO & MD, TCS said, "We are very pleased to be recognized for our ongoing commitment to the environment. True to the Tata spirit, TCS regards climate change mitigation and environmental improvement as essential elements of its sustainable business philosophy. TCS' corporate sustainability efforts are focused on the four dimensions around the world - workplace, environment, community, and marketplace. The first three are how TCS is focused on increasing our own greening as a company and the fourth one is how we influence our clients to be greener."
