Oracle brings Exalytics
Oracle has unveiled 'Exalytics' at Oracle OpenWorld 2011, following the announcement of its Exadata and Exalogic engineered systems. These engineered systems, which combine both hardware and software, is said to simplify the IT infrastructure of an organisation, reduce costs and improve productivity/speed. While Exadata and Exalogic were introduced to enhance database and application processing, Exalytics is believed to be used in business intelligence to handle and analyse data.
Larry Ellison, CEO, Oracle said, "would deliver data analysis at the speed of thought. Just like its sister products, Exalytics would feature parallel hardware and software architecture and dense data compression. With a memory of 1 TB, the average response time improvement over existing business intelligence is about 18 times."
"Exalytics would be an open solution for use in heterogeneous IT environments. While the price of the Exalytics is yet to be revealed, early testers of Exalytics include the telecom industry, Government and data service providers, said Paul Rodwick, VP, Product Management (Business Intelligence).
