Forecast, a new mobile application, tells one where his friends are going to be. Using Forecast, one can send out a small blast to friends using the application and let them know where the person is planning to go. "Forecast is designed to help people be more social offline. It's a passive and open invitation for your friends to come join you," said Rene Pinnell, Co-Founder & Chief Executive, Forecast.
The company, which has been testing the application for the past few weeks, says it is already seeing traction. There are currently tens of thousands of people using the service and that roughly ten percent of its users are forecasting their whereabouts daily.
Pinnell further said, "We're doubling the number of people using the service every week. Of course, there are a number of services that aim to create Web-based social calendars and other tools that make it easier to connect with friends at events, restaurants and bars. But the mobile phone has a distinct advantage. It's always on and in your pocket, making it easy to arrange plans around it."
