Intel leveraging on channel power!
Kamil Hassan
Director, Reseller Channel Organization
Intel APAC
Channel business is dynamic and it has evolved to a level that could never have been possible a few years back. Looking into the severity of this matter, Intel has undertaken several measures and programmes to gear up its channel base. One such event initiated by Intel is the Intel Solutions Summit (ISS) that has been quite a success.
ISS is the largest premier event for Intel's channel partners and is a regional event held annually in Asia-Pacific, underpinning Intel's strong focus on the market. It is designed to bring the entire channel community together in one place and discuss future roadmap, changing market and business environment and new products. Held in Melbourne, Australia this year over three days, the event attracted more than 400 participants from all over 18 APAC countries.
This is also the platform where partners look out for new business ventures. To make it even more interesting, Intel has also started introducing embedded ODMs who are not usually from the IT domain but from adjacent fields like digital signage and security and surveilance space. This is said to give its partners more scope to innovate, add on more products to its business and also adapt to new changes and evolve opportunities in the area of business.
Intel also has a membership programme - Intel Technology Provider Programme (ITP), which has, of late, been enhanced. It is a programme to assist its partners for sustained success amidst today's changing IT business environment in the different economies of Asia. The ITP will now extend to partners that not only build systems but also to those who resell Intel technology-based systems and solutions, supporting their product development, technical support and sales efforts. The base of the programme is revolved around training so that partners can sell the right solutions to the right customers. Apart from product training, the partners would also be imparted skill set training. The newly evolved ITP has now got three new membership levels - Registered Partner, Gold Partner and Platinum Partner. The Intel Channel Partner Programme (ICPP) Premier members will be migrated to Platinum Partner status, ICPP Associate members to Gold Partner status and ICPP Registered members and ITP members to Registered Partner status.
