NIIT targets to train 12,000 people through GNIIT, its new brand that reaches out to students through cloud computing in 2011-12. Using this service, people could login into classrooms or computer laboratories while sipping coffee in a hotel or sitting in a park.
"We have launched in early June and have roped in 1,000 already. We are going to continue this run in the next 12 months. The company charged Rs 1.75 lakh for the three-year course. GNIIT allowed students in 36 equated monthly installments. It also offers a virtual avenue to seek placements. Companies could interact with students and pick them," Surojit Biswas, Vice-President, NIIT, said.
On joining NIIT Cloud Campus, students could join virtual classrooms, laboratories, break-out sessions and library throughout the day. To facilitate this learning, GNIIT offered students virtual private network with a very high bandwidth.
