Femto Services provided to Companies in Siberia

NEC Corporation has announced that Mobile TeleSystems OJSC together with NEC Neva Communications Systems (NEC Neva) is providing a new femtocell service in Siberia. The service, “Consistent Reception” establishes or improves – with the help of NEC Neva’s femtocells - the 3G coverage of corporate customers in facilities where thick walls and steel beams may otherwise obstruct the signals coming from base stations. NEC Neva is providing MTS with a multi-function femto-solution and ensures the technical support of the femto-network. Femtocells – mini base stations for cellular telecommunication - allow users to simultaneously install up to 16 voice connections and reach an Internet access speed of up to 7.2 Mbit/sec using HSDPA technology.

Alexey Shashkov, key account manager, NEC Neva Communications Systems said, “MTS customers in Siberia are receiving an exceptional new service that improves the quality of their connections. Support and technological development of femto-networks in Russia and CIS countries will stay one of the priority tasks of NEC Neva.”
